The main role of the Chairman are as follows:

Business development directors build relationships and provide strategic direction to help companies grow and profit. They focus on building and guiding relationships both internally and externally with sales and marketing teams, vendors and distributors, and customers. While business development directors tend to work within a company’s sales department, they also build cross-functional teams and lead strategic development across the company.
Because this role is heavily focused on developing and maintaining relationships, business development directors tend to have excellent interpersonal skills. They also need a great deal of familiarity with their company’s products and services to identify opportunities to increase market share.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Business Development Director:
  • Building solid relationships with customers, vendors and distributors, as well as sales and marketing teams.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of company offerings to identify profitable business opportunities.
  • Directing marketing efforts by presenting market research to marketing directors and suggesting strategies to expand market research.
  • Assessing marketing and sales as well as supplier and vendor operations and recommending improvements as needed.
  • Preparing all documentation required for requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Researching emerging trends and recommending new company offerings to satisfy customers’ needs.
  • Developing and managing strategic partnerships to grow business.
  • Presenting business or marketing opportunities to company executives and management.
